FreshBox Farms, of Millis, has announced its greens have earned kosher certification, the only Massachusetts grower to achieve the designation.
FreshBox Farms uses sustainable indoor growing enclosures with no soil, very little water, a nutrient mix and LED lighting to produce. All FreshBox Farms products are non-GMO certified and grown without pesticides, herbicides or fungicides. The greens are also commonwealth quality-certified by the Massachusetts Department of Agricultural Resources, which identifies locally sourced products that are grown, harvested and processed in Massachusetts using practices that are safe, sustainable and do not harm the environment.
Romaine, rainbow chard and kale have recently been added to the FreshBox Farms product line. Each variety offers essential vitamins and minerals, and in some cases can even help boost metabolism and lower cholesterol.
FreshBox Farms’ certification is KVH Kosher Certification, from the Rabbinical Council of New England. New product labels carrying the designation should appear in local produce areas within the next month.
